New Dominus Inspired Dean Vendetta Day!

And just in Time for DOA tomorrow/Friday.

Behold my first creation: The Chops Builder


We start with an inocuous looking Dean Vendetta ($60). You may remember this from my Birthday last year. Looks pretty cool as is.

First, we need to take it all apart and fill some of the unnecessary holes.

Then, if i were Dominus, I'd show you pics of spray paint cans. But I'm not, so here is the body all orange.

Then, we mask it for the graphics. Wonder what this orange thing is gonna be?

Then, we have a whole lot of clear coat and sanding and drama and stress on this.

So what's powering this bad boy? An SDUG day BLACKOUT! MORE POWER OOH OOH OOH OOH [ <= Tim the Toolman Taylor style] ($28)

Then we put it all together, throw on a set of DR Neon Yellow strings, and add a cool strap!

I would like to sincerely thank Dominus, Lord of the Vendetta, for all of the inspiration, advice, and informative threads.

Aceman Hardware now open for business! Can he build it YES HE CAN!!! I hope to rock this bad boy on Sammy Hagar's Heavy Metal tomorrow night. Man - the Blackout sounds great!!!

Now if I can just figure out how to get the volume knob working????

Some wire is not quite right somewhere....

Meh - it will be fine. The switch is on/off so I'll be ok.

I left it in in case I ever want to change the pickup for split/parallel

That's really cool.

Volume pot should wire up the same as any other. Use a 25k instead of 500k or 250k.

I used the Blackout kit - 25k pot and the right jack w/ batter etc...


But the volume is just "on" I wired it correctly as far as I could tell.

Hot to switch lug, then middle switch pole to first prong on volume.

Middle prong on volume to hot on jack.

Ground from bridge to vol pot back, then on to switch ground term.

Ground from vol pot to jack ground.

???? Why no vol control????
