Behringer, low quality products?

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

For the most part......that's a true statement.

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

As far as the Boards go, they sound ok and are low cost, but they fall apart like sandcastles in a hurricane :D

Some of the other stuff like the V-Amp is pretty decent, but I can´t really recommend anything from them given a similar alternative ;)

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

I used a cheap desk once and it sucked, not pro quality at all (didn't put out proper +4, things liek that).

However, their Ultra DIs are great, we use them all the time.

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

Sorry guys, I've got to disagree. I've got a V-Amp Pro and it's as well put together as a POD Pro and only about a third of the price. It may not have the features of the POD XT's but it beats POD 2.0 hands down for tones.

I've also got a Blue Devil 1x12 combo just for quiet rehearsals and thats well screwed together and beats any of the Marshall MG series etc combo's for tones and features.

Admittedly, their desks are fragile but their rack gear is top notch.

Ditto. I had a little Behringer Amp that blew its OT the first time I cranked it! :laugh2: :yell: :banghead:

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

I've also got to disagree, I use a V-Amp 2 a lot and it's pretty durable. I had a lot of other players tell me the differences between the PODs and none of them really seemed worth the difference in pricing. Before I got one I've heard various Speed Metal and shred players record through their V-Amp 2 and I was blown away by there sound. A shredder here in Holland once got asked if he was playing through a Powerball, and for a cheap product like this, that would be a huge compliment :). I've also found some excellent amps in my V-Amp, totally nailing what I was looking for. I believe our own Gunner also used one while recording something

Another happy customer :)

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

I am thinking about purchasing a Behringer DEQ 2496. Anyone who knows if this has a good quality?

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

their boards, in tests, beat the equivalent mackie boards in the mic pre area. overall sound was said to be better, too. with any gear, you have to take care of it.

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

high quality products, low price. Their rackmount gear, EQ's, boards, etc are very high quality, especially for the price they ask. On the other hand, their amps and speaker cabinets are pretty crappy, I would never use one, and the V-amp series are built very cheaply, something breaks after a period of time. But I can't complain about their boards or rackmount gear, works just as good as some of the stuff in the multimillion dollar studio I'm in most of the time.

I was told that those boards where shamless copies of mackie's,And that they where sued by Mackie?

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

I use a Behringer FCB1010 midi pedal board, and you gotta spend hundreds more for a unit that will do as much as this thing. Way better than DMC's Ground Control or similar products.

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

Behringers are cost-effective, not less, not more: you get exactly what you've paid for. Like a Squier Strat: cheepo workhorse made of merely decent components that is reliable and serves you well most of the time - for a very little price. I have been worked with the Ultra-Dyne Pro and Ultra Curve for years and they're okay units. Not the best but still decent.

The V-Amp is pretty much not for me but it's purely because of my personal taste.

That's an apt analogy, but I'd be afraid of throwing a piece of Behringer gear down a flight of stairs, unlike the Squier. :laugh2:

Like most budget-priced gear, it's pretty much a crap-shoot. Some stuff may be great, while other stuff may be so bad that you can't believe it's made by the same company! :smoker:

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

they make some pretty good products and some other that are not so good.......it is possible to find among their range something pretty interesting and at a very good price

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

mate, leave the 2004 threads and start a new one! zombie threads everywhere today :laugh2:

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

They are pretty low quality. My buddy has a Heavy Metal distortion pedal and the thing sounds good, but you get so much feedback from that thing it's not even funny. Not to mention it's made from cheap plastic.

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

What about the V-amp pro rack mount thing?

I am thinking about getting one with a power amp and using it through 4x12 cab.

I haven't heard anything bad about the V-amps, but I'd still say get a new one to make sure you've got warranty coverage.

When they make a bad model, pretty much every one of that model will be bad - there was a certain board where each one would be bad, and their 2x12 guitar combos would always die. (it was one of the powered mixers though, the passive boards all seemed OK....and their rack gear was usually pretty decent)

Re: Behringer, low quality products?

I've used quite a few of their products. Decent stuff and well worth the low cost. I'm glad they're not the only tools in my box, but I'm glad to have them there all the same. Do they tend to steal other people's designs? Yup. Do they assemble their stuff as cheaply as possible. I assume so, but who doesn't? WOuld I trust one of their products the way I would, say, a Mackie mixer? Nope. But have I ever broken anything of their's? Nope.
