Benedetto B6 wiring

Hi all!

I need some help to figure out Benedetto b6 wire.

Here is my configuration;

Neck pu:Benedetto b6
Middle pu:Cool rail
bridge pu:Benedetto b6
1 500k Volume pot
1 500k tone pot
5 way switch

the cool rail is already installed, was easy and clear.

I don't get the benedetto wire , even with the official schematic.

Correct me if I am wrong but i think that ;

Black wire goes to the 5 way switch
The white wire needs to be taped off
The bare wire goes on the volume pot

I tried it , but I still have a ground problem and the bridge pu seems to have less output even when close to the strings while the neck pu is very low with plenty of output.

Thanks for your help!

I'm pretty sure that white is hot, and black and bare are ground on that pup. Hopefully, someone from Duncan can confirm that.

Welcome to the forum!
It is a 2 conductor pickup, so, I honestly thought white and bare were ground, and black was hot. If you put it in and it is out of phase, switch the white and black wires, leave bare to ground. But nothing is taped off here.

Hi and thanks for the quick reply!

That being said, would it mean;

Black wire on switch
bare and white on the volume pot?

Sorry, I am new to soldering pups!

Thanks in advance,

Gabriel

If it is correct, yes. :) If not, swap white and black.

Cool. After you played it awhile, stop back and give us a review. I've always wondered about the Benedetto pups.

Re: Benedetto B6 wiring

Yes I will!

For now, I love the sound of the neck position. It is warm, full and perfect for what it was built to do (jazz).

On distortion, I would say that it sounds really nice for a lead tone. Especially if you are looking for a creamy mid gain sound. (nothing to do with the Jb i had which was ok, but nowhere near the B6)

For the bridge, the difference in volume is quite noticeable. I managed to adjust it with the pickup height.

On clean, it is not a nice bridge pickup, but I never play clean on the bridge pu unless I blend it with the middle pu.

On distortion (in the spirit of Allan Holdsworth or Tim Miller) , it is awesome. I roll down the volume and tone a bit and it gives me a nice, clean , balanced tone for fusion stuff. ( I had a tone zone before, was sounding ok, but the output was way to high to get something natural out of it)

I will record a video soon.

Thanks again for your help and have a good one!

OMG, I love that guitar!! A Klein was one of the best guitars I've ever played. At $6k, it wasn't gonna happen. But I love the shape.

Re: Benedetto B6 wiring

I'm surprised that the bridge doesn't clean up well. I would have assumed the exact opposite, given that its a jazz pup.

I know, they go for crazy prices these days.

The copy cost me around 3000 Cad with all the parts. My luthier did an amazing job!

Re: Benedetto B6 wiring

I was expecting a fatter clean sound in bridge position, it sounds thin compared to the neck position which is normal in a certain way. It is not a problem since that I only use the bridge pu for distortion.
