Best 8-Channel Mixer for the Buck?

Re: Best 8-Channel Mixer for the Buck?

Digital or analog? Live or for studio use? Do you need phantom power, or are you using external mic pre's?

I love the Yamaha digital mixer, myself.

Analog would be preferred. Studio use. Phantom Power would be good.

Mackie makes some very nice mixers. The internal mic pre's are excellent, as well. :)

Probably Mackie, but if it's a tight budget, the Behringer is basically a Mackie Chinese ripoff. I have one for my PA and it's lasted longer than any Carvin junk I've had.

The inexpensive Yamaha mixers are very nice. None of these have the best mic pres, but for the money you save with the Yamaha you can start saving for something like the FMR Audio RNP to run in front of it.

Mackie, definitely. And to echo Gearjoneser, if price is an issue, Behringer is a nice substitute.

A Behringer (non-powered) 8 channel mixer is like a $100 at GC... can't beat that.
