I'm disabled and not able to gig anymore but am looking for the best practice/low power amp possible. I've been medically retired so am lucky enough to have my pay off to spend and want the best amp so I can still enjoy playing at home! Cornell? Fender? Even a lower power Two Rock? Anybody got any suggestions?

Sorry! Once I'd posted that I realised I should have said more. Mainly clean or on the edge blues! Will be playing with backing tracks. Have some wonderful pedals so dont desperately need a lot of amp drive! Very much in the Jimi/SRV/Mayer arena! Thanks for replying though!

I tried 1 of those too and it did sound nice.
Guess I'm just more in the Marshall-ish camp than the Fender 1

Try one of the 5W Laney Lionhearts. - can't go wrong with one of those.

If price is not a problem go find a mint Fender Super Champ designed by Paul Rivera from the early 80s.
They are going for between $600-900+ depending on condition.

I would seriously take a look at the Carr line of amps. If money isn't a major concern these are hand built & are absolutely beautiful amps. I particularly like the Slant 6V; which is a Marshall/Fender channel switching type of amp. It can be set for either 40W or 22. But browse through the other models and see whats available. For home use I think 20W will be more then sufficient. A Super Reverb(I have one) is 40W with 4 10" speakers and you really have to crank them a bit to get them to sound well. For home I think it could be too much..

To me, best might be a Hughes & Kettner 18 watt Tubemeister. You may think it sucks. Depending on why you like it.
Or, my 15watt Fender PRo Jr. might really be it. OR it might also suck if you want more than volume + Tone = go.

The Fender Supersonic 22 combo would be a good choice. From vintage cleans to some of the best gain tones Fender has ever created. And it's a bit less than boutique amps.

The most fun amp I own (which also happens to be low-power) is an Emery Superbaby. If you get the "Mad Scientist" tube set with it, you can swap out tubes all day and make it sound nearly like any amp you want.
There is a combo version, and a head version with a couple matching cabinet choices, or you can use the head to power any other cab you want. I run mine through an old Randall RG-80 1x12 Celestion cab, and I've also run it through a Marshall 4x12 Greenback cab. I bought it because when tubes go out in my big amps, I'm left with mis-matched sets and odd tubes. So this amp allows me to make use of all my VOS leftover tubes.
Outside of that, I know fellow musicians that use Orange Tiny Terror 15W and Blackheart BH5. The Tiny Terror sounded pretty good for heavy rock sounds, the Blackheart sounded good for gritty/crunchy blues tone. Don't know what else they can do; I only heard a few songs played through them.

My Mesa Express 5:25 1x12 is a great home amp. It even has a Blues mode!
I pretty much leave it on the 5 watt setting (switches between 5 or 25 watts) in the Blues and it covers alot of ground. Excellent master volume, reverb and effects loop.
