Best Beginner Metal Amp + Guitar Combo

Re: Best Beginner Metal Amp + Guitar Combo

Just get something you can afford that does the job, then work your ass off and really save up for your absolute ideal dream killer combo. Even if you have to record or play a show. You can laugh on it later "It was so funny, I was playing through this marshall pocket amp mic'd to the PA." You might even accidentally invent your own style.

Tube amps are much higher maintenance, but everyone one of your favorite guitarists plays through one, most likely, so a good tube amp will last you a lot longer, but I'm talking $700-$3000+

That price-range also applies to guitars that would last a lifetime, and these are used prices. Buying a Schecter or LTD is a great idea for beginning but not a long-run type of guitar. That said, I myself own 2 Schecters because they play and feel really well and good and are affordable. (and I have played guitars worth several thousand dollars to compare them to.) They are 98% there, for under $1k. Can't beat that. Often times their used value is a lot less because they devalue more than a high-end guitar. On that note, often times they've been damaged and need a professional set-up to play as well as they should. I've seen some Schecters in a consignment store that were almost identical to mine that were unplayable because of the setup issues. Always play it or have a friend who knows how a guitar should feel play it before buying it.
