I'm going to get an alnico pro 2 for the neck but I can't decide which bridge pickup to get. I was looking at the JB, sh-5, sh-14 and sh-11. I'm leaning towards the sh-11. I like the warm sounds of the alnico 2. Also Myles Kennedy uses it and I like his tone. I mainly play stuff like Guns n' roses,3 doors down, nirvana, Black sabbath/Ozzy and Black label Society.

I've used the Duncan A2P, 59, Antiquity, and DEFINITELY the Brobucker (my favorite) with great success. Also the Dimarzio Super Distortion humbucker and the Mo'Joe (if you like hot pickups, my second fav). A few other brands as well, but these were the best.

+1 I use a DD in my other paul and it does Zakk Wylde very nicely.

It's thick, but the bottom is a tiny bit loose, and the high notes are the most buttery of the Customs. The Custom 5 is a great all around rock pickup for tight bottom, neutral mids, and crisp highs like a 59B. The Custom feels like it's got the most push in all frequencies. I find it tight, never muddy. The C5 is the least muddy, but it may have the tightest bottom end.
It's most probable that your best option is to buy a Custom first, then if you don't love it, switch a few magnets around like the A5, A8, and A2.

In a warm Les Paul it might.
I have mine in a 1988 ESP Horizon. Maple neckthru w/ Ebony, long scale. The tone is 100% Judas Preist.

I wish I had enough Les Pauls to have four, maybe five, dozen different bridge pickups in them. There are probably at least that many that would be varying kinds of awesome.

i didn't dig the C5 in my LP but it's basically a semi-hollow with an ebony board; i loved the CC and demon in this one.
in your case, the custom with some spare mags would be advisable; i've never heard of anyone not liking the DD in a lester either.

I liked the Distortion in my LP, but I thought the Custom was much better, and the Custom 8 was MUCH better. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say there wasn't one of the Custom family to their liking.

The SH-11 may have too much low end in a Les Paul. Low output Alnico II pickups can work, but a heavily wound one isn't what I would expect to be a good match.
Go with an Alnico V or Alnico II pickup.

For the neck, I'd recommend a PGN instead, as it's not as likely to get muddy in an LP.
In the bridge CC's are usually too dark and muffled in LP's. Not a good match. For a high output bridge PU, a C8 or JB2 would be my first choices. Both are warm PU's, and much better in an LP than a CC.
