Best Bright Sounding P-Bass Pickup

I was considering getting a cheap ceramic P-Bass pickup for my Warmoth double neck bass and guitar project, but I didn’t know if it would last for the long run.

I’m wanting to know if there’s a P-Bass pickup that has crisp bright highs on the EQ spectrum.

The Vintage P Bass would probably be the brightest. Put bright controls on it - 1 meg volume and 250k no load tone and it will be nice and bright.

Yeah, the SPB-1 is the ticket. Any hotter, you get more mids, and less highs. If you are building something as special as a double neck, though, don't skimp on the pickups.

Covid finished off a 3-year stint in a regular local gigging band playing mainly a P Bass. I A/Bed a few P Bass pickups and after the third one they all sounded pretty much the same. GFS was pretty inexpensive and you can get a solderless harness too and not mess with soldering at all. Also tried a Duncan Designed 50's style, the stock pickup, and a Fender Original 60s. String choice and EQ made a way bigger difference in getting highs, and of course using a pick. Lighter gauge roundwounds with a pick and tone pot opened up are bright as heck on my setup.
