Best budget jazzbox

Re: Best budget jazzbox

I spotted a 1988 Orville by Gibson 335 on Ebay being sold by a guy who lives a mile away. The trigger had to be pulled and I got it today.

Man, you gotta be kidding me... I've been looking for one like that for years!

Post some pics or it never happened!

I'm so green with envy that I look like the Incredible Hulk right now!!!!!!

Hamer Echotone.

The pickups, tuners and nut are ****ty, but it feels great on my hands...way better than the Ibanez artcores and Epi Dot that I've played, feel/playability-wise. The Epi Dots though probably sound best. But with a pickup and nut upgrade on the Echotone, I believe they would surpass the dots.

Your wish is my command...

Man, it's even better than I thought... it's a real beauty. That's the closer you'll ever get to a vintage ES-335. It should've been made to '63 specs... minus the p'ups, which probably aren't up to pair to the handcrafted body.

If the pegs are good enough, I'd put some nice Gotoh hardware and change the pots and caps.

Those instruments were made in two factories, the Fuji-Gen Gakki and the Terada. Mine's been made in the Terada factory, have a look; it's an Emperador.

Treat'er well... or I'll come and kick your ass! :14:

Mine is also a Terada model...pups are 57 Classics. Needs new strap buttons and nut, but the rest is all good.
