ive never heard of a clean amp (rolands fenders) that have any great gain stages. The classic solution is 'fender twin with a tube screamer'. Im interested to see if you get any solutions.

Seriously, I directly compared it to some Fenders and other Clean amps and the Bogner sounded better!
I played through an old Vox (think it was an AC30) and got really stellar cleans out of it! Best I've ever heard in person.

Just got a Mark IV a week ago and it is killer. Great cleans and anything else practically. The clean channel with a tubescreamer is so sweet.

Paul Rivera was in the design team for the Fender "Blackface" era.
My Knucklehead II has the best clean channel on "any" amp ive heard.
And as for the crunch/distorted tones... well thats common knowledge.:smokin:

Mark IV, Recto if you want more of a modern taste (The clean is actually really good on it, but I find Recto's loose... something when you plug ANYTHING into the effects loop.
Higher end amps = Diezel, Bogner.

Surprisingly the clean channel is VERY good.
The overdrive channel is good too if you put the treble VERY low.

Not the best, but I dig my Rocktron Pirahna preamp for the cleans and distortions. But just like pickups that suit the sound, I think you have to run thru power amps and speakers that compliment the tone for the full effect. Maybe something like preamp--->a/b switcher--->6L6 power amp for clean and EL34 for dirt--->Eminence Tonker for clean and Celestion Greenback for dirt.
I dunno. I'm ramblin' but that's my $0.02.

You want probably the best clean amp with an insane overdrive channel? You want a Custom Audio Amplifiers OD-100. Simply the sweetest blackface cleans with an insane overdrive channel. I have NEVER heard a Fender clean channel that good, not even by vintage Fenders. My Bogner Shiva has some very good cleans, but let's be real here, they aren't outdoing any JMI-era Vox AC-30 chime or blackface Fender Twin shimmer.

Mesa IIC+, Mark III or Mark IV. Any F-Series, DC Series, Heartbreaker, Tremoverb, or Lonestar.
Mesa DSL 401, TSL 601 or 602, TSL 122 are all decent sounding.
