Best combo for multi fx for small gigs

I am thinking of doing a few gigs next year and am looking for a 1x12 combo to use with my boss gt100.
I would be looking at a solid state, 1x12 with the facility to plug the GT100 in to the power section to avoid colouration from the combos preamp.
Alternatively, would I be better off with a powered speaker and which one?

I would think a powered speaker would be better, especially if you are using cab models. I use a Mackie powered speaker with my Fractal AX8, and it sounds great.

I was gonna suggest Tech 21 Powerengine.

Funny thing is, as much as I love Tech 21 stuff, the Power Engine doesn't sound that great with modelers. It really isn't a full range system.

Thanks.Which model mackie speaker would that be?

They work best when the signal is divided into two, one with cab sims sent to PA & other w/o cab sims sent to the T21 PE60(which then can used for monitoring on stage.

The SD Powerstage pedal into a cab of choice is a good portable setup I think.

I've used the Mackie SRM450 or even a Thump, which works well I don't push a ton of volume onstage- that is what the PA is for.

The Powerengine would probably sound a lot better with the cab sims off(?). I run my GT-100 direct with cab sims or turn them off and run them through an ISP Stealth power amp and cabinet, I like running through a cab better FWIW.

Of course, your Fractal is light years ahead of the GT-100 so I can't compare.

Well, the problem is that you can't try this stuff out in a normal playing situation without spending a ton of money. It is hard to try out guitar cabs and full range ones without actually buying them.
