Re: Best effects pedal under 100 bucks?`
For the most part, multi-effect processors under $100 are less than professional sounding, and most are about equal to each other in performance and sound quality. Some which are worth considering are Yamaha Magic Stomp, Zoom, Korg AX series, and DigiTech RP series. If you want to buy brand new, I would lean toward the Korg/ToneWorks AX series or a Zoom. DigiTech's RP series is well built, but the effects sound kind of toyish. If you want to buy used, there are some from the DigiTech GNX series or an older Boss, which are going for cheap on eBay, but they sound totally prefessional by comparison.
In the category of the less expensive ones I mentioned, I have an old discontinued Korg AX1B for bass, which I use with all my instruments occasionally. The sound quality is about equal to that of the DigiTech RPs and Zooms, but it is fun to mess with. When the parameters are cut back a little, and when used with a tube amp, it can actually be convincing. If the one you choose does not have an acoustic simulator effect, but has an EQ, let me know, and I'll show you how to use an EQ as an acoustic sim.
