Those Ibanez AMs look really nice, on that cheaper end the Gretsch 2655 Streamliner JR, and if you dont mind a single cutaway the Gretsch 5655 Electromatic Center Block Jr.

Yes there are many Chinese people

Yes there are also many builders

Yes the first one had a bunch of defects

Yes the only one I have posted a link to was the last one

And yes it is much better than the first

Eastman is from China as well as Epiphone

Not all Chinese builders are garbage

Thank you
Exactly. Not all Chinese builders are garbage, but you're not helping him by keeping your builder a secret and not posting a link to a reputable builder, especially when you acknowledge having trouble with the process you're suggesting.

Dude I posted a link to my last builder
In my latest build thread
It's the only link to any builder I have used
Why do you think it's a secret

I have a Schecter mini-corsair that is pretty much exactly what you're looking for. Unfortunately, they only did a pre-production run and never did them as a normal retail model.

The Eastmans will end up being 'lawsuit' models, I am guessing, so who knows how long they will remain on the market.

Heritage Millennium (Millie). 100 percent Kalamazoo goodness! Same home as the G-brand!

Anyone tried the D'Angelico Premier Mini DC? Looks pretty and you don't often see a DC semi in Fiesta red. Only cosmetic knock is that headstock

Yeah, those headstocks (and the overuse of abalone) is a big no to me.

eastman, guild, and d'angelico are the three that came to mind but theyve been mentioned

I was very interested until I found out they have skinny necks.

I compromised and bought a used Epi 339. It has its drawbacks, but plays great. Will be rewiring and installing a Jazz set. Will be in it for about $550 and if I decide to sell, it'll be easier to find a buyer for an Epiphone than for an Eastman or probably the D'Angelico.

The MF Stupid deal today is an Epi 339. I know, NO EPIPHONE, but...

My buddy just bought an older Burney from Japan. He’s been raving about the quality, but he’s also gathering pots, caps and pickups to upgrade it. I know he paid well under the one grand ceiling, so up rages shouldn’t break the budget. However, working on these is no picnic in terms of changing electronics.

Pawn shoppy? Is that a bad thing?

+1 for an Ibanez AM model. They were the first company to make small semi hollows like this, and they come in under a grand for their current top of the line models if you buy used.

Early 80’s Ibanez AM, hard to find but extraordinary in every way. The new ones are like a 1990 Chevy Nova, the originals like a 1969 Nova.... same brand, same name.... very different experience.

The bodies on the newer ones I see are made of "linden" i.e. basswood. Is this also the case for the older ones? Seems like a very delicate / soft wood to be using in a semi
