Re: Best Guitar Ever

Jackson Soloist!!!! I've owned so many different guitars but for me, my SL1 is the best!!! Out of this list though I would vote for the ESP.

And no offence to Strat guys(I've owned a few), but I could never vote for a guitar that wasnt neckthrough... I cant stand bolt-on necks!

Re: Best Guitar Ever

hmm, one question about neck through body style necks, what happens if it cracks or gets tore up? doesn't a bolt on neck allow to replace the neck?

I would NEVER let anything happen to my axe!!! My guitars are always in a hardshell case if I'm not playing it. If something out of my control did happen, I suppose I would get a new guitar.

Re: Best Guitar Ever

Your poll said Best "Series" ever, so I had to vote for the tele 'cause of the various models that have been produced (I'm not talking mods either): thinline (semi-hollow) or full body, various single coil and humbucker configurations, 2 or 3 pick ups, b-bender, maple/rosewood fretboard...I don't think another has this many configurations from the same model. The only bummer about it with regard to features is the single tone and volume knobs.

Re: Best Guitar Ever

I think all of them have their great points and bad points sound and feature-wise.

If price were no issue, and I had to buy one on your list, it would probably be a high end Fender Strat. As I've gotten older I've come to prefer the light weight comfy body as well as the unique sound and feel of the longer scale bolt-on neck guitars.

It's kinda funny because when I started playing seriously in the mid/late 80s, Gibson's weren't very popular. Same with Fender.Everyone was jumping on the shredder-strats from Jackson, Charvel, Kramer, Ibanez, ESP etc. I used to get all kinds of "Your Les Paul/Explorer sounds great but they are so ugly, heavy and the necks really suck" type comments from people.

And now that the classic Gibsons and Gibson style (set/glue/neck through) guitars are "in" again, I prefer the bolt on fender strats and shredder strats  :D

Re: Best Guitar Ever

My trusty Gibson Les Paul Classic with SD JB Bridge and Jazz neck, Ernie Ball Slinkys thru a Marshall JCM2000 DSL 100 Half Stack. There is no substitute.

Re: Best Guitar Ever

I cant honestly vote for any on that list.

Modern companies like Brian Moore and Parker have taken the old standards and built and improved upon them in ways that FAR exceed Ibanez, ESP or other Japanese lines.

Re: Best Guitar Ever

The Gibson SG is the greatest guitar. The cutaway lets you acess the highest frets, and despite popular belief the neck is STRONG AS ****.

I have to agree with you, man.
I do a lot of those Randy Rhoads neck bends and my neck has never even come close to breaking.
The only SGs that would probably have trouble with the necks are the ones built in the early 60's.
Other than that, it's a rock solid SEX Machine. :fing2:

Re: Best Guitar Ever

I love the Warlock. Totally evil look for starters. All you need to do is put in some killer pickups, locking tuners, maybe a few other things and you're set to shred!
