Back in the 70's in Brooklyn (big Jamaican community), I saw a lot of reggae/ska/dancehall/bluebeat guys with Jazzmasters/Jags, the occasional Gibson...

anything with pickups that aren't stupid hot!

I've seen strats, teles, les paul juniors (bob marley had a signature junior i think?)

single coils are more popular, but reggae sound is more of a technique.. It's all about letting your hands and fingers drive the sound instead of high output pickups or gainy amps!

I would go P90s. I saw No Doubt last night, Tom Dumont rockin' 3 awesome P90 Hamers, all sounded super thick and percussive. Perfect for that sound.

That said, I have two friends who play that style of music, and both of them play PRS McCartys.
