Re: Best guitar to mod.

The best for me are guitars with twin HB's and 4 knobs. Lots you can do with PU's, magnets, push-pulls, wirings, etc. Forget all this Strat/Tele foolishness.

you sir are popular member of this forum. But after playing with les pauls and explorers for a long time, I have found a new home in strats. YOU ARE MISSING OUT!

Haha, the endless LP versus Strat battle continues.

Re: Best guitar to mod.

Mexican Strats are great for hot rodding. Unlike Squiers, it is easy to find parts that fit properly.

Re: Best guitar to mod.

this is all true but...
not really moddin if you dont have to persuade a part or 2 to fit:)

my squire :I had to ream out the tuning holes for the locking tunings... fill/drill a few holes for the pickguard and to sand and file for the pickups covers to fit and shaped it .. so it was snug against the neck.. and fill/drill like 2 holes for the bridge

Re: Best guitar to mod.

Mexican Strat or Tele - decent quality and countless parts to swap out.

Re: Best guitar to mod.

If you're set on a squier tele, look into the J5 model... amazing guitar to start with. and from experience, a MIM, modern player, or classic vibe strat is a great platform to learn the trade of tinkering... But i would probably go for the MIM in the land of strats. Parts are more easily obtained.

import washburns are other wich just take mods hellish good, the 200 bucks ones are really good, and with the correct mods they can be incredible (my V is an example, i had done a lot of mods from oiled neck to butching the electronics more times than i can remember....)

Classic Vibe, Vintage Modified, or MIM Strat. If you really want a swimming pool route, make sure to check the guitar before you buy it, my MIM Strat doesn't have a swimming pool route, but an old one I had did.
