Best hot PAF or "PAF on steroids"

i'unno if you'd consider it hot, but the coolest PAF i've ever played with is one i put together- a seth/PG hybrid with an a4 magnet.

i like the brobucker with an alnico II magnet or a 9.4k antiquity

Patent Applied For. It was on the back of the early Gibson pickups that people seem to love.

PAF means "Patent Applied For"

It's the general name given to the earliest Gibson humbucker pickups designed by Seth Lover, because they didn't have a model number per se, or a patent number, but they came with a sticker on the baseplate that said "Patent Applied For"

Basically PAF = vintage humbucker

i prefer the softer attack and fuller mids of alnico II vs the strong bottom and sharper attack of alnico V

Not "hot" per say, but the Pearly Gates definately gets that rude PAF with a sting tone. I love mine.

Thanks guys for the input. Finally when someone mentions PAF i'll know what their talking about

Custom 5 has a nice vintagey voice, but is a little hot to be called PAF.

Through a correctly Eq'ed tube Marshall's hi gain input, the Custom 5 doesnt even need a distortion pedal to replicate Angus Young's sound almost perfectly.

it's not completely low output, but it's definitely not hot. i don't have any clips of it yet, as i don't have a good enough mic to capture the sound well enough. it's really, really bright though. bright enough that if i turn down the tone knob with a .015 cap you'll still get some treble coming through.

Almost anything with more wire on the bobbin than it's suppose to have under normal specs?
