Well, I'd say because of the rosewood board and because the ash body is gonna be warmer than an Alder body (if it's soft ash, hard ash is actually brighter) you might wanna check out a '59 or maybe even a 59/custom with A5 if you can find one used or don't mind swapping the coils yourself.
how is the sh-3 stag-mag? It is supposedly just two strat pickups put together. Im sure it sounds good tapped, but how about full (both clean and distorted)?
So far the only reviews I have read of it are shredders that put it in the neck position, the opposite of what I would ever do.
I'd recommend the Alnico II Pro if you have a vintage style trem that sounds good unplugged. That pickup works marvelously if your guitar sounds nice unplugged. If the guitar is tinny than the pickup can't do much to save it.
im not quite sure if you could classify the tremolo as vintage or not but it doesnt lock, so I guess it is. How do the alnico II pro and the Custom Custom perform split? and yet again, has anyone tried an SH-3 Stag Mag?
i'd be looking into a p-rails, haven't tried one yet but on paper they're looking pretty good
aside from the others mentioned above, an airzone could work well
that said, if stratman's tried most of them and says CC - doo eet! even if the CC isn't exactly what you want, you'll find another use for it.
