Best Humbucker Strat Neck?

I've got a double fat Strat with two pickups, an A2 59/C bridge and a Epiphone Waxmud Pro :D in the neck just to fill the slot. Heres what GC has used where I live:

PGn
PGb
78n
Slash Neck
A2Pn

What do ya'll think would be the best for me? I play classic rock and blues, with occasional jazz. I also need something that splits well. Rounded treble and light bass would he nice as well.

Re: Best Humbucker Strat Neck?

Without a doubt, the Alnico II Pro, which will do the rounded trebe jazz thing really well, even on a Strat. I have a setup like that, and it is really wonderful.

Re: Best Humbucker Strat Neck?

Yep, A2P by far for what you describe followed by Slash followed by PGn, based on your list. A CC/APH double fat strat was the best sounding combo I ever had.

Re: Best Humbucker Strat Neck?

Uh, isn't the Slash neck and the A2P basically the same thing?

It's overwound by just a bit- mine reads 8.4K and I the A2P neck is spec'd at 7.5K.

Also, I could be mistaken but I think both the Slash neck & bridge are made with old style braid leads, no 4-wire connections for splitting.

Re: Best Humbucker Strat Neck?

The A2P is nice in the neck for clean tones, but if you want a bit more grit and attitude the Pearly Gates neck model will do it for you.

Re: Best Humbucker Strat Neck?

I checked: be aware that the Slash neck is not splittable unless you were to mod it with a 4-wire lead.

I'd probably pick the PG too for blues & rock. A2P is also a great choice, a little smoother than the Pearly.

Two quarter pounders next to each other, otherwise known as blackmore sandwich.

Duncan dedicated neck pups are often a rebadging scam of selling the exact same thing under different names, so Im of the "stop paying for it until they cut the crap" school

I've never heard this in almost 20 years of playing SD pickups. Duncan certainly uses some same coils with diff mags and pole pieces for different bridge pickups, but I can attest to their neck pickups having varied unique tones.

What do you offer as evidence for your position?

Re: Best Humbucker Strat Neck?

rounded treble? i think not. splits well? also no. dont me wrong, i LOVE the antiquity firebird pups, but i dont think they are what the op is looking for
What the hell does "rounded treble" even mean? Those pickups are not ice-picky by any means. And with their treble response, you don't need to split them.

And by the way, my post was facetious. I don't expect the OP to take it seriously. It's my own preference. But thanks for speaking for them, Mr. Helpyhelper McBusybody!

I don't get this, and it simply isn't true. Name 2 models that are the 'exact same thing with different names.'

Dave, don't feed the ego of this frustrated, failed project of a sad, little man. Absolutely nobody around here would ever miss him if he didn't come back.
