Best lead pedal

The others I tried were the Time Machine Boost (not bad, but to pricey compared to the FD2 and I liked the FD2 better anyway), and the Super Duper, which again is no better than the FD2 and is more expensive.

I was going to suggest the Time Machine Boost. Have you checked out the Bad Bob Boost?

im supprised that no one has mentioned the klon centaur, its about as transparent as ive found

My search for OD's ended with a Klon as my boost pedal. It's really the king, although I hesitate to suggest $400 pedals, since it's an outrageous price to pay for a pedal. I got lucky and scored a new/used one for $240.

Sometimes, you've got to just keep playing them and buying/selling them until you settle on your favorites.

Re: Best lead pedal

For volume pedals, I have yet to find one better than the

Visual Volume

LED lights to indicate the setting, smooth transition in volume from off to max, steel construction...great pedal. The only negative is that it is ONLY AC powered.

Re: Best lead pedal

I use a fat boost for a transparent lead volume boost and it works great. I get way more volume out of it than I need.

I run it into the effects loop of my 100watt DSL...and it really screams! With the drive and volume set around 10 o'clock it boosts my volume up over everything.

I use vintage tube amps with no master volume and literally use "no effects" (plug in and play man!). So the pedal I'm looking for has to be tranparent but also get me noticed when I step on it for a solo. I tried the Fat Boost at our last gig and didn't like it (not enough volume boost and muddies things up) and so I am in search of a better alternatrive.

I have an MXR Micro Amp on order as a pure volume boost but also want something with some transparent grit and thickness to it, so I'm considering the Fulldrive 2 and the OCD.

P.S. Other pedals I've tried and won't buy again: TS-5, TS-9, Tonebone Classic, Boss OD-1, Boss OD-3.
Update: The Micro Amp is fantastic with my set up, loads of volume and adds just the right amount of gain for "transparent" solos (I use non-master volume tube amps with no OD or other pedals). I also bough an FDII as a back-up and higher gain alternative, but I gotta say that the Micro Amp is getting stepped on quite a bit and has now passed the onstage test 3 times.
