Best Metal Guitar Tone??

What band, or better yet, musician do you feel has the best Metal Guitar tone?

I, personally, would have to argue James Hetfield's, Dimebag Darrell's, Tony Iommi's, Zakk Wylde's, or Dave Murray's/Adrian Smith's. Your picks?

thats everyone's first thought. but so many people are trying to copy metallica, and they all suck. that created nu metal.

id go with zakk cause i love his music. or maiden cause i love their more 'vintage' tone.

I like Alex Skolnick's (ex Testament) tone.. specially on Souls of Black and Practice what you preach.

Metallica have a good tone too.

1st - George Lynch - Under Lock and Key tone. Hunter and In My Dreams. Probably some of the best 80's tone ever.

2nd - John Sykes - Whitesnake 1987. Sweet sweet Les Paul/Marshall tone.

I can't believe you guys haven't mentioned 1) Michael Schenker, 2) Mathias Jabs or 3) Uli Roth. Granted, George Lynch contributed tons, but how 'bout 4) Tony Iommi, 5) Buck Dharma, or 6) Vivian Campbell? By the way, I agree about John Sykes Then there were those players that took metal tones to different areas....7) Robert Fripp (King Crimson), 8) Steve Ferris (Mr Mister), 9) Frankie Sullivan (Survivor)......

For metal, I think I still like John Christ's(ex-Danzig) tone the most. Judgment Day ...Even without the pinch-harmonics, I'd still dig his tone.
