Hey guys, I'm gassing for a multi-effects board and was hoping what yall thought was the best one out there right now? I was recommended a Boss GT-6 by Ranger and Dime. I just want a little more input on this situation. Tell me the best one you can think of and why, but also the flagship models that are way overrated. Thanks guys.

Re: Best multi fx pedalboard, Thinking about getting one.

I just bought a GT-6 not too long ago... it's pretty good. Fun to tweak. Lots of good sounds, and some not so good to be had out of it. One thing - some of the synth/harmonizing/detuning stuff doesn't track terribly well, but that's been my only beef with it thus far.

Re: Best multi fx pedalboard, Thinking about getting one.

I have a GT-6 and I would recommend it, like dd said, it has a whole ton of sounds and it's very easy to program once you figure it all out...

Re: Best multi fx pedalboard, Thinking about getting one.

I have a Zoom GFX-8 and I like it very much.
I think you have to try all of them and choose which one is the best for you.

Re: Best multi fx pedalboard, Thinking about getting one.

Bump. Thanks for the input guys. How about Digitech stuff like the gnx4 or the Vox Tonelab?

Re: Best multi fx pedalboard, Thinking about getting one.

I've had great luck with Digitech equipment and own a lot of it (Performer, D128, several GSP units, an RP1, several midi pedals, etc). They all work very well, I think the echoes and choruses are second to none, the distortions are excellent, the customer service for a large company is excellent, all good reasons to go with them.

Re: Best multi fx pedalboard, Thinking about getting one.

Annother nod for the GT-6. As has been stated, some of the stuff is fairly useless, at least at my experience level, but there are a ton of good features. Lots of good distortions, amazing cleans and a great, great acoustic sim. There are about 6 different distortion models that sound really good out of the box, and if you really want to delve into tweaking them, you can get into some pretty deep stuff. You can also build custom amp combo's combining several different pre-amps. The effects are nice as well, chorus, delay, flange...a ton of stuff.

It is also great for practicing thru headphones...the sound quality is amazing.

Annother bonus is that when I record and mike my JCM 800, I run the mike through the GT-6 (set on tuner bypass) and then out to my computer. I can set the amp as loud as I want, and then control the volume out to the computer via the volume pedal on the GT-6.

Jeff, thanks for that review, you sealed the deal. To bad you can't get something from Boss for getting them a new customer.

Yeah....Boss, Dean Guitars, NOS Tube sites...I'm waiting for the royalty checks to roll in. :laugh2:

I think you'll dig the GT-6. Just make sure you buy it from somewhere with a 30 day exchange policy if you're going to pay retail at $399. It's a nice insurance policy just in case it isn't for you. Different story if you're getting a deal used.

Let us know what you think!

Fo shizzle my nizzle. (For sure my friend)

Re: Best multi fx pedalboard, Thinking about getting one.

if i were you i'd stay away from digital multi fx boards

everything is just compressed WAAAY too much, and the result is really thin sounding effects, just in my expirience

Click on my soundclips down in my sig, and listen to my covers of Heavens Door and All Right Now (through some at least decent speakers). GT-6 straight into the base soundcard on my Dell. With a little tweaking these things can sound awsome. Will they ever replace true tube distortion and compression....I hope not. In my opinion tubes are the ultimate sound...but for $399 you can't beat what you get.

No offense but tube distortion doesn't always have to be the ultimate distortion, I'm quite content with the processed stuff. And I can't tell the difference, but my playing doesn't really warrant a tube amp.

Re: Best multi fx pedalboard, Thinking about getting one.

Or if you're like me and heading to college where you need to be able to play quietly, tubes aren't really an option, or else I'd probably be packin' a 100 watt Mesa rig right now.

What about that little nice Vox simulator, sounds nicer than most multieffects boxes, plus you can stick them into your hifi.
