Best multi FX unit

Re: Best multi FX unit

If you can find one, try a Hughes and Kettner tubeman. It's a three channel floor preamp with emulated and straight outs. Great overdive tones. If you don't need effects, or are looking for something that feels better than a pod and you can carry in a bag, it's great.

if you want to tweak sound live on stage ME-50 is great. I also had to decide between GT-6 and ME-50 - I wanted to come away from "programming" my sounds and being inflexible on stage. Thus the ME-50 is perfect for me.
Chorus/Tremolo and Delay are great. Hardly use OD/DS

Re: Best multi FX unit

I havent seen anyone mention the Vox tonelab. I just got one and Ill tell you what, IMO that thing smokes any competition. I picked mine up on Fleabay for $350 and it was worth every penny and more! The tube preamp and modeling circuitry really REALLY are all there. That tube (if your a tubetone freak like me) is the real deal. All warm and organic. You couldnt give me twice what I payed for it to sell it!

Check it out! You wont be sorry!

I've never liked Digitech either. I don't know if it is the $600 I paid for a DSP21 Legend when I was a dumb and impressionable teenager, or just that they sounds soooooooooo fake/digital/grainy/whatever, but I've NEVER had a good experience with them.

I'm still in debate. I need to get something TODAY, which cuts the DG Stomp out of the picture since I'd have to get it from ebay or something. I need an easy unit, foot stompable solution for my current gig, but I really want something that can do decent direct to tape/PC recording. I don't like the girth of the GT-6, but that does both things I want...I might go with a ME-50 for its simplicity and size and snag a POD down the road for direct recording....I wish someone made EXACTLY what I want! :-/

Re: Best multi FX unit

I know alot of digitechs old stuff don't sound too good.. but what about the newest ones? gnx3 and 4??? any thoughts there?
the drum machine, recorder, and a bunch of sond effects that you can save and set,.. It sounds like a good Idea for those who want to see how something will sound but doesn't have a band at hand.. or doesn't have a band period. I need some comparisons!

Another vote for the Boss ME-50! I love mine, the tone on it is simply divine.

I think it comes down to whether or not you need amp models. I picked up the ME-50 because all I needed was a bunch of pedals in one simple box.

Roctron Intellifex for effects only, for a clean and no color transfer from the original signal to effected signal it has a 104db signal to noise ratio its what I use.
