Best neck humbucker for great cleans, warm high-gain, and very good for splitting?

A MUCH better alternative to coil split on a neck HB is spin-a-split. Instead of 'all or nothing' you can dial any amount of unbalanced coils you want. That's where the best neck HB tones are. Much more versatile.

Let me throw out one that has not been mentioned here the Sentient. Was looking for the same type of tones you are describing in a neck pickup in my 1993 Carvin DC 127 in solid KOA. Started with the 59 and the Jazz but then found clips of the Sentient. I have a Gates on hand so it also was in the mix but the more I listened to clips the more the Sentient was really clicking with me. Could not be more pleased with my tones in this guitar with the Sentient matched with an Alt 8 in the bridge. It's like a bigger tighter and meaner JB Jazz set up. More meat and more sweet on he neck than a Jazz or 59 but still very sweet and articulate clean and also with a fantastic singing solo voice.
Here is that combo live from last Sunday at my Church through m Boogie Subway Rocket.

Same set up a week earlier with another team and a little better mix on the guitar tones.

Duncan demo that sold me on the Sentient and is pretty much spot on what I got when I really got the pickup dialed in. At first it was a little sketchy but once I figured out that the Sentient really responds to height from string adjustments and found that sweet spot it was a home run in this guitar.
