Best Neck Pickup to Pair with an APTL-3JD

What are y'all's thoughts on the best neck pickup to pair with an APTL-3JD (Jerry Donahue) bridge pickup? If I were to say it could be anything, I would say APS-1/APS-2. I also like the Pearly Gates. But what about Tele neck pickups? I tried the APTR-1 and it's good, but not great. Thoughts?

I love a mini-hum in a Tele neck. The obvious problem is, it's not usually a drop-in replacement. But it's worth the effort if you go that route. (Pun intended.)

I've used the Rhythm for Tele with Strat Tone, and liked that a lot. The only other Tele neck pickup I dug was a Five Two. But my favorite in a Tele is a humbucker in the neck- usually a 59 or Antiquity.

What about an actual "non-Custom Shop" Telecaster neck pickup?

I really like a good Teli neck tone. My favorites have been the Alnico II and the Antiquities. I personally don't care for humbucker pickups or a P90 in the neck of a Teli to me it defeats the purpose of even having a Teli.

im not really a fan of tele neck pups in general. id say an aps2 or sm1 is a great match. if you want the look of a tele neck pup, id look into the lari basilio neck or middle pup. i havent tried em yet, but i bet they are pretty great and would match the jd well
