Best Pickup for my Ibanez AR-50

Hello Everyone, I have done some searching on this site and have not made up my mind yet so if some of you knowledgeable people can help me out that would be great. I have an 80's Ibanez Artist 50. Basically a double cut les paul. Mahogany body, two pickups, ect. I wanted to know what would be the best pickup set for me. I was going to go with the jazz in the neck and a jb in the bridge but I tune that guitar to d standard. Would these pickups do me justice? I wanted this guitar to be versatile. I would like to be able to play metal but good leads and cleans as well. Any help and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i think those pups would go very well in that guitar if you want it to be versatile, even tuned to D .. the JB will get the job done for metal, for sure .. and the jazz will certainly handle cleans ... the only other thing that i would toss out there for you to consider would be an AIIP neck

good luck

I have a buddy who said the custom 5 would be better than a jb in the bridge. Any comments on that? How would that sound?

well, i like my C5 just fine, that's for sure :D ... something about a JB for metal is just so 'right', so i lean towards it ... but the C5 will probably be very satisfying too ... a bit more bass and a bit less highs, IMO

i am not sure exactly what kind of amp you use or what kind of tonal details you hope for ... in an all mahogany body guitar (no maple cap), you might want to have the option to get a bit of boost in the highs that aren't always there naturally ... if you do have a maple cap that brightens up the tone, the C5 might be a fine natural balance .. i am sure you'd be happy either way, and with the 21 day return policy, you can always switch if the first one doesnst get it done

what do the rest of you guys think?

cheers

Thanks for all the help. I run my guitars though a boogie triple rec or a marshall jcm 800. Thanks again.
