I think part of it is the low-pass filter that follows the clipping section where you get your distortion from (amp or pedal). If it cuts too much of the harmonic content, I think it's more difficult then. So while a high-output, bright pickup will help a lot, you need the other side of it too.

With a Proco Rat pedal, there is a knob that lets you control the frequency of this low-pass filter. If you turn it far down, pinch harmonics are extremely easy to get.

i got a seymour duncan convertible amp
highly modifiable. might play with the modules a bit but i wish they would remember the amp and had had more diagrams for more sounds. the ones on the manual rock.

The Custom is THE pickup for Scorpions/Schenker sharp tone and harmonics. I can't think of a DiMarzio that comes close in tone and clarity. It gets amazing crunch too.

I got one in an alder body/maple neck guitar.
It's sounds great.
21k DC resistance.
Great lows, greats middles and the sweetest high I've ever heard on an ceramic magnet pickup.
Really, it cuts like a blade.... And there is nothing harsh.
Perfect pickup
