I don't think there's any ONE best pickup... It's all depending on what you would use it for. And maybe you think one is the best for one thing/guitar, and another is better for another guitar or style.

..I'm sure they all can sound great if they're put in the right guitar. ..An Invader can sound like pure mud in a thick sounding guitar while the JB will sing & scream with clarity in the same guitar. ..A JB can sound clanky or like an icepick in an overly bright axe while the Invader will sound more balanced.

...So no vote from me.

Well the Invader in alder body is really nice. I think this pup is very underestimated, probably because there is such a little experience with this pup. Under heavy distortion it tends to create a tone layer (which only hi-output actives can do) of distorted but smooth tones leaving the peakes sound somehow brighter. Something like the Distortion model but a little heavier and thicker. The livewire Lwhmet is also underestimated, although I don't like actives...

Out of those, I'd choose the 81.

But if it was up to me, I'd choose the SH-13--hands down.
