It's nice to hear the endorsement for the '59 because I hear it's similar to the stock Fender pup that'll come w/ my new fat strat.
But as far as a recommendation goes, I've been using an Invader in the bridge for 15+ years now and for metal it's awesome! It can get a little muddy at times but it has a nice, thick "chunk." It's great for rhythms but for leads I still prefer the DiMarzio HS-3 stacked single coil. The single coil sound seems to do a much better job cutting through all the noise in a live situation. The Invader has a decent solo sound but it can tend to get a little lost when everyone (drums, second guitar, bass) joins in. I've found it's great for 80's metal rhythms but not great for 80's metal shredding.
