But doesnt it sound like a single coil tho? And regardless i dont think i will be able to get since i dont want to order, i want to buy it in store.

Ok guys, heres the options(these are the models available at my local music store):aph1n, 59n, jazzn, invadern, jb.. dimarzio: dp103 paf, evolution neck, air norton, liquifire. For bareknuckles i may be able to trade my nailbomb for a cold sweat neck, but that depends entirely on how much my friend likes the nailbomb neck model....

IMO, from this list these are closest to what you describe: Jazz, Invader, Evolution, Liquifire

Do you have 500k Pots with it? Because 300k pots can filter out some of the treble. Seriously, as someone with a nailbomb set in a 24 3/4 scale solid mahogany guitar, it sounds like your problem isn't the pickup.

This leaves technique or something else. If your technique is solid, the pots would be the only thing I can think of. Pots can filter the highs out of your sound. I might even go to 1 meg if it seemed too dark and you wanted some more high end for pinch harmonics.

The nailbomb is not akin to the JB. The Rebel yell sounds a bit like a JB. The Holydiver claims to be like a JB without the midspike, but I don't hear it at all. A nailbomb is a low-mid output pickup, fairly balanced and typically very aggressive. I don't know a duncan that it would compare to well.

just to round it better to you dude, look at what the guys that do a lot of squeals had in their neck slots, and also if they use their neck p'up to do squeals, for that matter, you should check both the '59 Bridge or the Pearly Gates Bridge models, why bridge, well you just can't really argue with them on the neck for squeals


other than that, maybe the D activator or the black hawk, if all that fails to you just follow aceman(bob)'s advice

Enough output for my nailbomb, but lots of bite, not that ultra smooth typical neck pickup sound, i want there to be some bite to it when i turn on the gain, but still be a bit of the neck pickup sound, and decent cleans...

I actually have no tone pots, only 1 500k volume pot, and just so you its actually 24 5/8ths... My technique is pretty solid, i dig in quite abit and use the stiffest jazz 3s, i do intend to be dropping down to drop c for my band, we are currently in drop c#, I like to use somewhat light top strings and heavy low strings, for drop C i will use 11-56 (nyxl by daddario), right now im using their 10-52 set.

I dont hear any pinches on the neck pickup really... but honestly i can live without weird pinches on my neck pickup and saves those for the bridge i suppose...

Yea im interested in the liquifire after hearing a few demos... what about the invader? doesnt everybody hate that neck pickup to death? and how do the jazz and liquifire both compare?

I should also add that in my previous post i wrote which pickups id be able to buy... the distortion neck and bridge models are not at my local music store which id much prefer to buy from...

Chazzy, your best bet is the Black Winter set. If your shop doesn't have'em, get'em to order'em. If not, if you're in the US, then banjomikez is your friend.

If you go down to drop C, and you still wanna have some tone left, thicker strings are a must. If you're going to use D'Adds NYXL, the 12-60 set is the one you want.

Agreed. Sell the BKPs and get a set of Black Winters.

Ive had the 12-60 in drop c before, WAY too thick, seriously they were thick as all hell... the tension i have with my 10-52s in drop C# is perfect and i get pretty good tones, and i have thought about the black winters, i think i will try my best to get a pair, im not in the us and ill see if i can get my shop to order a set...
