Re: Best speaker for a 5e3?
ive had a 5e3 for a while and had a red fang in it for a good long time, sounded good but the housing was SOOOO close to the power tubes i had one break when someone was "helping" me move my gear. then i put a g12h30 in and that is the speaker that stayed in there. sounds loud and full, cuts thru a mix well, and has a strong top end without being shrill.
if you need more volume and a tighter bottom then look at a 5v4 recto tube. ups the voltage enough to give a tighter bolder tone but you do lose a little of the character of the stock amp. its not bad at all, just not the same. ive run it both ways and have found both to fit certain situations better
