what would be the best way to block a crappy floating Floyd rose?

It's my friends BC rich guitar. I hate the thing and it sounds like crap but he loves it and he wants me to block the floyd so it doesnt move.

I've heard to use wood as a block would I need to use 2 pieces of wood?
one on each side of the Trem?

Re: Best way to block a trem?

He wants to turn it into a fixed bridge or non floating? If he want's it fixed bridge then the two blocks of wood works.

Or you could just put in one block and 5 springs tightened down all the way...
I think that would be a little easier :33:

Rock ON!

Re: Best way to block a trem?

The trick is to get solid coupling between the trem block and the walls of the slot through the body. Dan Erlewine has a couple of neat tricks in his book, How to Make Your Electric Guitar Play Great (page 67) on how to fit a wood block to exactly fill the space.

Since every guitar player should own this book anyway, this is your excuse to go buy it and impress your friend with new-found knowledge.
