better heavy sound

I have an Ibanez rg 1570 and i put a DD in (i am very happy with it).what i search in a dirtotion sound is a lot (no more than a lot!) of crunch , a fat while remaining clarity.but i don t have a good amp (and not enough money to buy a better). it is a peavy enjoy 110 (he! belgium is not usa....)and i use the distortion sound from the amp. i want to know if i can have a better sound without buying a new amp or giving 250 dollards....i m searching for a good old heavy metal sound with a lot of crunch (so something that will match with the DD).is it possible with a pedal? (i know i wont have something perferct...).and for a better clean neck sound??(good accompaniment or good vintage lead??)

not much you can do about the clean sound, you could try an eq to change the tone or a chorus/delay or whatever to color it.

as far as a good distortion pedal, i would try everything available to you and see what you like. use either your guitar or something similar and a similar amp. while it may be more fun to try out cool expensive gear, when testing a pedal you want to see how itll sound with your gear

I agree. Go to the local music store, only bring BOTH your guitar and your amp. Test out all the pedals till you find the one that gets you your tone. Dont worry about them hassling you, when you bring in your gear theey know that your serious. Good luck.

Check out the jekyll and hyde od pedal by visual sounds. I use one directly into my 10watt solid state amp and it's basically two pedals in one. The first side of the pedal does that vintage tubescreamer sound and is very transparent while the other side of the pedal does a marshall type crunch to a scooped mids heavy distorted mesa boogie tone. And they have individual selectors meaning you could combine both pedals and get a very long sustain, though it doesn't get any heavier but the the side that does the mesa boogie scooped mids is heavy enough IMO. it's definitely a bang-for-a-buck pedal and very versatile. you should check out the reviews at harmony-central.com for more feedback on these pedals.

Hey man, i had the same problem about 5 months ago, check out digitech pedals, ( x series) they got pretty good distortiong and its not a bad price it runs 150 candain so id say 100 or so American check out the Metal Master, Hot Rod and the Tone Driver

i dont have 2 input and 2 output on my amp, just "input low gain and high gain" with a clean and a lead canal.

will it match with these pedals??how does it work? do i have to switch it when i m on the clean one?

haha man, the 2 jacks on the side are for differnt things, you can plug one or the other into you amp, ones just ment for a mixere, all you need is a cord going in oneside of the pedal and a cord going into your guitar
what you do is you put your amp on clean right?, then you have the distortion pedal in, and when you hit it down it will be distorted and pretty good distortion too,( i used the metal master ) and if you want clean step on it again.

all right all right the only thing i wanted to know were when to switch the pedal==> on the clean or on the lead canal and if i would be nice to have a distortion running on the clean canal.
for the input/output, i heard that some amp have 2 on the back to pluck to times the pedals on it 2 times...

Ibanez smashbox (the ONLY ibanez product worth my time)

or a boss metal zone.. they got the best metal sound to them imo.

the smashbox is quite versatile, but you'll find it very hard to 'clean up' cos it fills the signal with so much distortion it's unbelievable that it's still clear and not a mush of sounds.
you have a couple of more settings on the metal zone, but it lacks the 'tone cut' that frequency thingy.. when you arent playing you dont need to turn the effect off, cos it cuts the effect hum by itself, but if you have it at full, it doesnt sustain all that well.. both go for about 70$ i think, but are well worth the price.. i bought the smashbox a couple of years back and never looked back to another pedal. amazing sound
