Darkness on the edge of Tone
Someone on another forum asked if I would recommend either the Big D or a Power Screamer for use with a modelling amp, and I said it would be better to make clips and you can judge for yourself. I thought you might find this interesting.
This is a repeating riff played through a VG-88 going straight into the mixing desk. I played a Les Paul with a Bare Knuckle Riff Raff in the bridge and a Bare Knuckle Stormy Monday in the neck. The VG-88 was set for a clean plexi tone with no other effects. The clips are:
