Nothing like a project to take my mind off troubles, working for a 'boss' after self employment over 25 years, and recently, my dad's declining health. I like to make stuff, or restore stuff, or just tinker. It shifts my focus and clears my head, for the moment. We did a gig at a small club, my Bogner 1/2 stack about 8 feet away, facing directly at my other guitarists 100 watt VHT rig. Yeah, talk about tight. The sound levels on stage were not bad really, and we adjusted the PA mains accordingly. It was packed, the crowd dug the music, so did the bar staff and we got invited back. My other guitarist has a slew of boutique amps and some nice combos, he's bringing a Dr Z. My sound is dialed into my Alchemist, I don't have any small cabs, but my friend did have a Bogner cube he said I could use...kool...until I saw how tiny this 'cube' was. Looked like a freakin' 'bad robot' with a big head.:eyecrazy: BUT, this tiny bugger sounds great! It's got 2 round ports and is stuffed with some kind of batting. Not killer huge like my 4 12 Celestion mix cab, but sounds full, rich and a lot bigger than it looks. I don't wanna use that cube with my head balancing on the cube handle, so I decide to build a cab to surround this tiny cube, so my head can sit nicely on top. I have left over acid green tolex from my Marshall cab recover so I cover the 'box' with it. I make a 'riser' bottom so the cube tilts upwards for me to hear better. I think it may sound bigger inside this box, at least I hope so. Was fun to build, kinda copied the Avatar style, I get to use it Friday night...yes, that's my newest axe, Heritage 150P, thanks to bbrent for the inside scoop. It's a LP with Poplar body, nice light weight and a nice brightness on top of it's LP crunch, the Duncans really made this one sing. The HC reviews made me realize this is a sleeper that I need.:naughty: I love it. I have the Marshall logo that came off my 4 12 cab...I may stick it on this, just for giggles.
