Biggest Dilemna: Jackson USA RR-1 or SLH2?

Guitarist

I can't decide, they're both too precious! I do have a Les Paul, so the radical shape of the RR might be a nice change. The SLH2 is just so classic... Both are made with the same components making this even trickier.

Anyone leaning one way or the other is urged to post their thoughts, it'd be a great help. I was very impressed with the Soloist, but unfortunately the guitar shop I'm trying these out at is still waiting for the Rhoads to come through. I'll still, no doubt, play the Rhoads myself to see for sure... I just want to know what your thoughts are and/or what to look out for.

Thanks. Here's a large pic of each.

In my case, I'd go with the RR-1, because I already have 2 soloist style dual bucker 24 fret guitars.

In your case, however, you have a 22 fret LP, so I'd go with the soloist if you play leads. 24 frets is almost a MUST for a shredder, and I actually use those extra 2 frets a lot.

I lean towards the soloist because its a more comfortable shape when sitting down, i dont really enjoy the radical look of the rr and i just really dig the soloist

go with the Rhoads. I've got one, and I'd take another one. nothing rocks more than a V!

Strat, just the workhorse shape imo, easy to play seated or stood up.

I'd be worried about the V being unbalanced when strapped on, though someone else could confirm that.

I'd want my only floyd guitar to be a 24 fretter also, might as well get all the shred head features on one axe :D

Good point about the Floyd being a 24er. I don't think a USA Jackson would have any chance of being unbalanced though...

get the damn soloist.. but if you get it in amber sunburst i'm going to kill you :D

Re: Biggest Dilemna: Jackson USA RR-1 or SLH2?

I own and love both. A Rhoads is a bit more comfortable if you usually sit down in a "classical " position, if you tend to prop the axe over your right knee like folk players then the Soloist will feel more natural.

Standing up both balance perfectly. ;)

The rhoads sounds a bit chunkier and more scooped / "clearer" due to the shape, the soloist is more even tonally. But both rock real hard :headbang:

I feel your pain, LOL. I like Zerberus own both. The USA Rhoads plug in on the upper horn which allows you to place the V on your right leg. It is very confortable and well balanced while standing. Randy had a Paul and a Rhoads. (hehe)

I would go for the SL2H because it basically has ALL the "shred-head" features, even though the RR-1 makes you look cooler!!!
