Bill Lawrence pickups.

Hey everyone. Just wondering what you guys think of Bill Lawrence's tele lead pickups or his pickups in general.

Also, does anybody have a web adress for Bill and Becky.

Re: Bill Lawrence pickups.

You mean www.billlawrence.com? I used to go to this shop to try out amps and there was always a strat sitting next to the amp display. The American Deluxe strats have those Bill Lawrence pickups in them. I actually played this strat through many different amplifiers. They are quite good. Kind of high output though. Not vintage sounding to me. The single coils were more like humbuckers.

Check th forum that Bill links to. Wild Horses or someting. Lots of sound clips!

Re: Bill Lawrence pickups.

Let me make clear that the pickups in the American Deluxe Strats and Teles are "designed by" Bill Lawrence. They are Fender pickups. He does not sell those pickups separately from his site, www.billlawrence.com, but they can be purchased separately under the Fender label.

The Bill & Becky pickups are great. Haven't tried many of the newer offerings but what I have tried in the past have always been satisfying. The Wylde Gate has lots of info and sound clips from users.

I may snag a set of those Keystone singles for another Strat. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

I know that. They're basically Bill Lawrence pickups. Fender says they haven't changed anything and the pickups are made to exact specifications. That being the case, they're Bill Lawrence pickups. So I was saying those are the ONLY Bill Lawrence pups I tried. No clarification necessary :biglaugh:

Serious?!:smack: Does he live in Corona too?! :biglaugh:

That's where the company is located.

Sure, but for the newbie reading this thread who doesn't know that, they may try to order the SCN's from Bill rather than just looking at Musicians Friend or Sweetwater for them.

My bad! They changed the website since I last checked. I guess they took off the link for SCN pickups. Proceed then Erik. Thanks for clarifying.

It's alright. The site has changed but the info is still there. The link is at the bottom of the "About Bill" page. Here's a direct link to it.

You can't just call them "Bill Lawrence pickups" because in a sense, they are not. They are designed by him but wound by Fender and labeled as such. Saying they are Bill Lawrence pickups implies that he built them and sells them. ;)

Re: Bill Lawrence pickups.

I really like My bill and becky L500XL and L500R in my explorer... I always read that the PAFs are the ultimate pickups... so I go and think about changing it out again, but I find that with simple twists of my tone and volume knobs I can get ANYTHING I want out of them! Very Very Very versitile. The neck can do almost single coil type things up to that woman tone... and I have not even split it yet! Mix the neck and bridge and use more neck instant strat (sort of!), use more bridge and roll the necks tone down... great bluesy thick raunchy tone. Then kick in the high gain and you have a sound that is as clear and hot as an 81 but lets the guitar talk... I only say because I tried it in 4 guitars and everytime was DRASTICALLY different! Try em out!

Interesting. I'm thinking of getting the L-500R(that's the neck pickup, Right?)for the neck of my guitar. Any other comments with this pickup in the neck position?
