Bill Lawrence pickups

Alright, I made some crummy clips of the Lawrence humbuckers I dropped into my strat. There's an L-500C (clean) in the neck and an L-500R (rhythm) in the bridge. I just recorded with the guitar plugged straight into the GuitarPort, and I'll post pics of my settings. I used a bit more gain than usual for the dirty clips just to show how clear the pickups stay under gain.

Those are some Bill Lawrences!!! They are killer!!! Have you noticed how versatile they are?? I certainly think they are!!! Also, I love the middle position, it gives kind of a twang sound to things!!! Mine are the same way bro!!!! Welcome to the club!!!

Yep, very versatile. Clean they can pretty much nail strat and tele tones (listen to that bridge pickup clean, it's pretty twangy IMO0, but then you add some dirt and it's humbucker through and through. I like 'em for sure.

:32: Just as I remember. It's been a while since I've played some BL's but man those are sweet. Someone once told me that if you want to know if your guitar has good natural tone, put a Bill Lawrence in it.

Are you splitting either one of them in any of those clips are are they both going in full humbucking mode?

They're running full, I didn't wire up any splitting

Hot damn!!! Man, I just got done listening to the clips again. I love those things. I need to get me some BL's, or just one.

Re: Bill Lawrence pickups

I just listened to the clips again and I think I had the volume too high on the clean ones, sounds like it might be clipping a bit.

Re: Bill Lawrence pickups

He got them from Bill and Becky. I would break his arm if he bought from that other guy.

Re: Bill Lawrence pickups

I got a set of Lawrence minihums for my LP Pro. They're model L-550 or L-560, I'd have to look at the boxes again. They sound awesome, I'll have to record something with this guitar.

Gonna give a listen to your stuff right now.

Wow, I didn't realize there had been so many more replies to this thread. Bump for Jeff asking about clips in another thread.

Re: Bill Lawrence pickups

AJ, what would you compare the output of the R with in the Duncan line? And the C? The output numbers Bill gives are in henries and I'm so used to reading a pickup's output in DC resistance I can't get a good feeling on their output level.

I know the XL is screaming hot..lol Played one of those before, and the L is really nice too.

Re: Bill Lawrence pickups

I'd say the R is a little hotter than 59 and C would be like a non sterile lifeless jazz.
