Bill Lawrence (Wilde) L500's

Re: Bill Lawrence (Wilde) L500's

They were/are a small family run business with not much overhead so their prices were always low and they weren't all about the money... I think it took them 15yrs or better to raise their prices to a somewhat normal price. They were $54/pickup plus shipping... I forget that they are now but it's still lower than anywhere else.

$79 for the L500 , XL500 to name a few. I've had really good customer service with them over the last few years

Re: Bill Lawrence (Wilde) L500's

I always had great service with them as well. I remember one of the first sets I bought new from them was an L500XL/L500R set and it was $85 shipped for the set.. So I guess it was prob $40/pickup plus shipping...been a while but I know it was before their price increase to $54/per which was a good while ago like I said.

Re: Bill Lawrence (Wilde) L500's

Tried calling them? Becky and Bill (R.I.P.) were always very friendly and willing to answer any questions in my experience. The XL is a great HOT pickup with a lot of dynamic range, very responsive. I still use a set of his Strat pickups in one of my Strats, excellent!

Re: Bill Lawrence (Wilde) L500's

I ordered some strat pickups just a couple months ago. I just sent Becky an email and then ordered online.

Re: Bill Lawrence (Wilde) L500's

From his website and my converations with Bill and Becky, he was very set in his beliefs about making the clearest pickups possible...I can totally see that he would refuse to do something outside his philosophy.
You said it more eloquently but this is exactly what I meant.

Re: Bill Lawrence (Wilde) L500's

The good thing about Bill & Becky pickups, you can get alot of different sounds out of them!
I switch between to setups of pickups on my guitar, one has two L-500 C's and a L-45 in the middle, the other has three Micro Coils.....
That will change when I get a neck for my other Ibanez body though.

Re: Bill Lawrence (Wilde) L500's

I got the chance to speak with Bill on the phone years ago too, I called up with a pretty simple question, he answered the phone, and it turned into a 45 minute conversation. He was was a very smart man, and a genuinely nice person, he is missed.

Re: Bill Lawrence (Wilde) L500's

I remember receiving an envelope from them during the holidays which was months after placing my order and all that... opened it up and it was a Christmas card. Im thinking man how cool is that??
