Billy Gibbons 'Pearly Gates' LP

Re: Billy Gibbons 'Pearly Gates' LP

Well since it's supposed to be a true repro of Pearly, it should be made of ultra light, non-chambered, non- weight relieved Honduras mahogany, with a brazilialian rosewood board.

Re: Billy Gibbons 'Pearly Gates' LP

Yeah I agree--long overdue.

I wonder what pickups Gibson will use...

And I`ve always wondered what finish that is--is it a dark cherry sunburst, tobacco sunburst, dark honeyburst...??? Any thoughts on it`s finish?

I have old pics of Billy playing Pearly and in the early 70's she was a tobacco burst but she's faded over the years...

Actually rumor has it that Pearly is not ultra light weight...I don't know this for sure but I hear that she weights in at around 9 pounds...not a Norlion boar anchor by any means but still a little heavy for vintage LP's...

Re: Billy Gibbons 'Pearly Gates' LP

you didn't predict anything. Billy Gibbons didn't pose with that lame Les Paul; Gibson is paying him to copy his cool old Les Paul.

On Topic: Les Pauls are Les Paul but sweet ones are reeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaally sweet.

Re: Billy Gibbons 'Pearly Gates' LP

Man that thing has some legit mojo. Really great burst color. It would be cool if they actually made exact copies of the pickups instead of just throwing in their BB1/BB2 combo...or put in Duncan PGs hehehee

Re: Billy Gibbons 'Pearly Gates' LP

Link isn't working nor is the Gibson web site (you wonder how they could actually make this guitar?!?!?!)

The GAS is unbelievably painful just reading the post, however.

In all honesty, though, I'm always shopping for an epiphone elitist and a pair of PG's. Probably 98% of the tone and 10% of the price.

LP sigs that should exist always:

#1 Page
#2 Gibbons
#3 Frehley (and not that clowned up tacky-fest version
#4 Wylde
#5 Green
#6 Rossington
#7 Sykes
#8 Slash
???? Gotta be a couple of others...

Be on the lookout for a kidney for sale in the Trading Post

Very well said!

Also maybe add the Mike Bloomfield model, Warren Haynes, Duane and Dickie, Gary Moore, Joe Bonamossa...

I`d love to have a copy of Billy`s 'Pearly Gates'--always wanted one like his. Great looking and even better sounding IMO.

Re: Billy Gibbons 'Pearly Gates' LP

And of course, the better/more expensive the guitar, the more it reminds you that you ARE NOT the Rev. Billy G. And you can't blame the axe...

Re: Billy Gibbons 'Pearly Gates' LP

Isn't there already a 'Pearly Gates' LP? I heard it was called buying a Gibson Historic R9 and relicing it....

I came close to throwing Moore in there. and do we really need a duane AND a dickie model? Let's go with Duane.
