BK Butler Real Tube II Preamp.

I just got one of these used for $79. It souds pretty cool in all modes but is a bit noisey. Anyone have any info on these units?

I have a black one around here somewhere, but I always forget about it ... not sure which model you have -- EJ had the larger white model

if yours is like mine, the noise must be either from your power source or the preamp tube (duh), and it should be easy to determine which one

I know that some people like to put a lower gain tube in those.

these pedals have pretty good tone, but for some reason, I just gravitate back to a tubescreamer when I need some OD

what other info do you need?

Pretty cool unit. I loved mine, but I sold it because I didn't ever use it. I'm not a rack gear kinda guy.

A really really good New Old Stock 12ax7 tube will work wonders in those devices. My buddy uses a 60's Telefunken in his...
