Re: black metal effects/eq?
No expert about Black Metal... (I even don't know most of the bands you have named here)... but (and I hope this helps)
I read in a Boss advertising magazine that a good rig for really heavey metal is using this rig: compressor -> distortion -> EQ pedal -> flanger -> reverb that splits the signal to two amps. If you use a distrotion pedal with bass/mid/treble controls, I think you can do w/o the EQ pedal. You can use a Tube Screamer instead of the compressor, and I think that a flanger "jet woosh" is an amazing touch for some extreme metal parts.
Don't only think about distortion and overdrive pedals for heavy metal... with the right amp you might get by without one... delays, reverbs, compressors, and even modulation effects are also part of the story, and they do make it more interesting to listn to.
