Blackened

I think it is not quite right.

i think youre having the same PODxt troubles i am. i just cant get something im entirely happy with out of it, even with the metal pack. even the best i can get seems to suffer from the same problem. theres no middle ground between fuzzy low end and fizzy high end/mids. i cant get a good strong rhythm tone out of it no matter what i do.

that being said, the cleans on the XT are pretty damn good as far as im concerned.

Re: Blackened

I agree, most of the high gain stuff is really touchy on the xt. There are some decent tones in there, but the only redeeming model in the metal pack is the brit silver. On the other hand, there are some really good mid-gain tones also.

Re: Blackened

I think you came very close to nailing the And Justice tone with digital. Seemed like the bass was thin?

Re: Blackened

Yah
the tone is a bit GRAINY
more OUTPUT there
ahahahahha and more BITE.
less mids cause metallica SCOOPED their mids on that cd.

Re: Blackened

If I turn the mids down, the guitar track gets really thin and scratchy, so that won't work. maybe more low mids and more bite? maybe i'll try the quad tracking thing.

I liked the playing too
****ing hails man.
Thanks

Re: Blackened

Playing was great, but i see what you mean with the rythym tones. I use guitarport for these types of things, and it doesnt sound bad at all.

Can you upload that backing track to yousendit.com or something? Im really lacking in terms of metallica tracks.

Re: Blackened

i love the drums. how did you get them?

good playing btw. brought me back to 2 years ago when all I did was metallica.. now its megadeth hehe.

what guitar/pickup are you using?

Re: Blackened

The drums were programmed (by me) in garageband. It took longer to eq for that sound than it did to cut and paste note for note into the track.

The guitar used was a gibson les paul studio lite with a jb/'59 combo.

I guess I could post just the drum track in mp3 format on my soundclick site, once I get home from work. Will that work for you?

Re: Blackened

fasteeeeeeeeer :D

man, i havent listened to this album in a lifetime

blackened is the eeeeennnndaa
winter it will seeeennnda

:headbang:

brings a tear in my eye it does. happy those days were. this was metallica!!!!!!!!!!

bass is too saturated, it's too grainy and fizzy. you realy have to spend time with the line6 stuff and pick the best suited components out. i did get quite good tone from my guitar port when i had it.

post the drums alone, so i can take a stab at this when i get my rhoads.

That sounds good, but i wont be able to get the track from sound click. If you use www.usendit.com you can upload it for free and just copy/paste the link it gives you here. Thanks a bunch though!

Re: Blackened

Welcome to digital. You'll never get rid of all the buzz/grit in a POD, epecially with high gain

Mess with the speaker cabs....some are worse than others.

Something that helps on the Marshall models I use is to lower the gain more than you would like to use and then use the Vetta Boost stomper to add it back..sound gets a bit smoother without altering the tone too much

High gain pups make it that much worse.

BTW...nice playing...excellent job on that tune! :)

Re: Blackened

what i always did with my recordings.. took the soldano model or the umm .. i forget.. anyway

set it for middle of the road gain, then push it with the tube screamer, then go to see which cabs worked best for that sound and experimented with the mics. the best for high gain tones were the dynamic and the other whats it called again mic (well, neither the sm57 on or off axis)

i think i could get quite a good recording tone out of it

Re: Blackened

I haven't listened to that album in a long time. Haven't tried playing that one in a long time either. Nice playing.
