Blackout Di'd track distort

Hi!
Just got my new Blackout AHB-2b, have put it in the bridge position and started to record a DI track to re-amp it later.

First thing I noticed is that the sound distord when I strum hard (gain jumper on). The zoomed wave in Sonar clearly show that the top of the peak has been shaved. I doubled checked everything and this is not comming from my audio interface and my levels are clean. So it seem I'm overloading the pickup itself... or I did something wrong.

I have read a 18volts mod can increase headroom for EMG but everyone seem to say it is not necessary with the Blackouts, but still they clip and the distortion it make is not really a pleasant one and I'd like to get rid of it.

Any comments or suggestions?

Thanks!

Turn down the input volume on the recording interface. The Blackout is most likely louder than whatever pickup you had previously, so it's clipping because you're overloading the track. Not an issue with the pickup, but rather the recording.

Ok so I figured it out: I ran a small cable to toggle between high/low gain and the gauge was too small (28awg). So I put the jumper back and now there's plenty of headroom!
