Yep, I sorta agree, although in my case I prefer push/pull pots to split the pickups individually, and usually I prefer the outer coils to the inner ones.
Then a classic 3-way is enough for me.
Recently I found out that although it's nice to have, I very very rarely split the bridge bucker since I usually use the neck or both for cleaner passages so one push/pull is enough about 90% of the times.
My most complicated wiring is in my SDUGF-ised Strat with two StraBro90s and a Crazy 8 where I use a push/pull to split the three pickups plus an on/off switch to add the N+B combo.
