Blues Deluxe Reissue and HRDlx Vol. Box

The issue with these Fenders as well as their DeVille counterparts is well known. They are loud amps and the vol. knob on the clean channel goes from "off" to "too loud" if you touch it. I've had one of Carl's Volume boxes for years and have always been satisfied with the function it adds.

Just a week ago, I stumbled across a functionally identical device called "the Lion Tamer" (Google including "for Fender" and you'll find it)

Made and shipped from the UK (and shockingly I received it in 5 da. via economy shipping); a bit more expensive ($33 USD incl. shipping), BUT the form is such a huge improvement over the vol. box......no cables necessary.

I was so impressed by this little, simple device that I thought I'd pass this along for all the Fender owners here. Maybe most are already familiar, but I wasn't.

:offtopic:BTW, wish I knew how to reduce the picture size, but :dunno:

Nice!
In the new versions of the amps they changed the taper of the pot from linear to audio, fixing most of that problem.
I guess they wanted to impress people on show floors, thinking that kids would turn it up slowly from zero volume, get their heads taken off by the volume jump, and assume that the volume increase keeps going.
The cool thing about having the volume box on the floor with cables though is that you can foot switch it back out for a lead boost but then again, there's plenty of other ways in that amp to get a lead boost
