I loved the tone of the original Bluesbreaker pedal...nice dynamic overdrive. My only gripe was it didnt have alot of output... you couldnt use it as like a clean boost with the level up and the gain down... both had to be up to probably 3 o'clock to get the same volume as your guitar with the pedal off... I dont have much expierence with the BD2 I just demo'd one in a store a few years ago... I thought the highs were kinda thin and shrill... but it didnt have the low end drop off that my tube screamer did... had way more drive and gain than the Bluesbreaker so more flexible in that sense... These were just my observations in the store... I could be completely off cause its hard to get a real good notion from spending 20 minutes with it using a guitar and amp that arent mine... so take it for what its worth...

...another good alternative to the BD2 or the Bluesbreaker would be a Tubescreamer Turbo. I've tried this pedal and it has amazing tone, and it is very flexible. Its very transparent and can be used for anything from a boost, to a mild overdrive, to a slightly heavy (think classic) crunch. you can also use this pedal in front of some gain for some really killer crunch...

Had the BD-2 and returned it. After reading many favorable reviews I went with the Digitech Bad Monkey, and boy am I glad I did. These pedals are becoming very popular for good reason, it sound fantastic, very flexable, built like a tank, and won't break the bank. You can use it for lead boost all the way to some very good classic rock tones ala Billy Gibbons. Definately check this unit out, you will be glad you did.

The Bad Monkey kicks butt. Compares favorably with my Keeley TS-9 and Reverend Drivetrain II and better in some aspects. My BD is on the block.

i have a keeley modded blues driver and its my favorite pedal for soloing, i love the tone alone with humbuckers and run simotaniously with my tube screamer for singles.

If İ were you I would get a bluesbreaker. It has more powerful sound. Another choice is DOD YJM 308 overdrive pedal....
