does anyone know how to check the bobbin's color in a covered pickup without unsoldering the cover?

Re: bobbins under cover

On the screw side you can remove a screw on some pickups and see the color of the bobbin underneath. On the slug side: You´re screwed :D

If you wanna see both, gotta pop the hood, sorry ;)

Re: bobbins under cover

Here's what to do: Turn the pickup over and remove two of the four little screws that hold the bobbins to the baseplate. Look through the little holed and see what's inside. A flashlight might help...but you probably won't need it. Lew

thanks bros! i will go try it now!

Be careful reinstalling those two little screws. Don't overtighten. The plastic they thread into strips easily. Lew
