I still need to try this bad boy...I have heard NOTHING but good things!

Now...let's all wait on Aceman to pop up and down it because of it's cost...bash so called cork sniffers and claim that there are pedals out there that are as good or better for $50 or less...

Re: Bogner Ecstacy Blue Pedal

Its almost as smooth and well made as my Roland MicroCUBE set for RectumFry.

Re: Bogner Ecstacy Blue Pedal

My nitpick is getting levels set is a little tricky. You need the boost side with singles, but you have to fiddle with it a bit.

Re: Bogner Ecstacy Blue Pedal

I haven't tried the blue one yet, but tried the red awhile back. And, um, yeah, it sounded amazing. :omg:

Re: Bogner Ecstacy Blue Pedal

I am just super impressed with this thing. It is like I got a new amp. I have spent some big bucks on Marshall in a Box things like the Plextortion, Plexitube, Plexitone, and Distortron. As good as they all are, they still pretty much sound like a pedal in front of a X amp. This Bogner transformed my TM18 into a Plexi-ish Beast. I will hafta do a clip soon. I am still fine tuning.

I can only imagine in front of a good Fender Bassman type circuit or in anything with EL34/6550/KT66s and a decent speaker/s it would absolutely kill.

I haven't tried a Bogner pedal through my bassman yet, mostly because my Weehbo JMP drive absolutely killed my GAS for marshall style pedals. And coming from me that should mean something.

I still want to try it though, just for ****s and giggles.

Re: Bogner Ecstacy Blue Pedal

Man, I'm so glad you found that pedal. Several months ago, I lucked into the whole batch....all 3.

I'm always hesitant to sound too much like a Bogner representative, because you guys probably expect it.

But....those pedals are some of the best gain makers you can buy. The blue is like buying a Bogner XTC blue channel and adding it to your amp. The Red is like turning any amp into any shade of highgain you want. The Uberschall is well......imagine all those 3 thousand dollar metal amps. There it is in a pedal!

I'd say that it's best to use them with a slightly pushed tube clean tone. Then, the pedal is like your new channel.

Reinhold Bogner is going to go down as the mad scientist of guitar amplification history. They broke the mold when he was born.

Re: Bogner Ecstacy Blue Pedal

Sucky thing is, the pedal only has ignited GAS for the real thing.

The TM18 is much improved with this (for my tastes), but it is not the optimal platform. It does not have enough clean headroom, and has a weird hard sounding midrange on the clean channel. I am going to try rolling some tubes over the next few days to see if I can find something more optimal than what works best for the crunch channel (which is how I have it optimized now).

I think it is also just a clear case of I have never loved EL84s and now they are starting to wear on me with the TM18.

Get a 6l6 fender type cleans with some watts these pedals will rock it:)

When I tried the Red out it was in front of a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III's clean channel. In the short time I was messing with it I was able to get a lot of recognizable full & rich tones. So I imagine your Blue would sound great in front of a Fender too.

Re: Bogner Ecstacy Blue Pedal

No doubt a Fender would be a great platform and probably what Bogner had in mind. My brother was practically willing to give me his HR 2x12 (gen2) a few months ago, but has since sold it...arghhh.

That said, I think I would prefer a Marshall type platform better, and I really hate open back combos for Marshall type tones. One of the cool things with low wattage on the TM18 cranked is that I am getting a heavy push and a touch of breakup from the GreenBeret, which just makes the tone that much more authentic. For that reason alone, I am thinking a Tweaker 15 (upgraded with EL34s) or a new DSL15 on its clean channel sitting on top of my 1x12 might be better and then later as planned I will grab the 2x12 with real greenbacks of some sort (Celestions have a more complex/thicker midrange than the Green Berets).

Still, I am not complaining. Just thinking out loud...this pedal is super cool, lots to tweak (in a good way).

Re: Bogner Ecstacy Blue Pedal

had many cabs my self but the open back spreads the volume nicely, 40 watts is just right or and another cab.

Re: Bogner Ecstacy Blue Pedal

I saw this in my initial search Ken. Nice tones. The Red is too..errr....much??.... for my needs, but sounds great for those type of tones and beyond. If I was still playing heavier stuff like Maiden/Metallica, etc I would be all over the Red. In Blue Mode with the GreenBeret I can get a pretty convincing Unleashed in the East tone, which is about as heavy as I would use these days.

Re: Bogner Ecstacy Blue Pedal

Thats why I like the blue for more classic rock and stuff, both grounds covered. I had the gain all most all the way to get that 5150 tone. The other setting gets that lower gain stuff

Re: Bogner Ecstacy Blue Pedal

you like it with the boost on or off? both are great but I like the boost on for the added gain. Kick the plexi for lower gain stuff. It takes some loud time to get you setting right and setting the trim pots right also.
