Bone Nut Vs. High tech Tusq?

I ordered a some nuts for Strat/Tele. A couple preslotted bone nuts and a couple of Teflon Impregnated "Tusq XL" nuts.
I'm wondering if you guys who have experience with some tonefull mid-gain maps ( Marshall/ Fender) have an opinion.
On the one hand, I do deep bends, and the idea of a slippery nut , along with the solid reputation of Tusq as a good sounding nut, is appealing.
On the other hand, the old Bone is what Fender always used, and even though its low tech, I believe it probably sounds best.
Thoughts?

I don't here that much of a difference between the two. I'd probably prefer a properly cut bone nut, and just lube it up with some Nut Sauce, since I'd still use it on my saddles anyway.

I think you'd be fine with either.

My opinion, but the nut effects pretty much the open string tones..The bridge saddles would have more overall effect...Personally I like the bone nuts.

Tusq is great. I did the "drop test" with a bone nut vs. the TusqXL and on my glass desk, the Tusq was brighter. In my old neck it sounded good, real good and the teflon does make for whammy heaven.

Bone for me. If I could have more of my guitar made from dead animal parts, I would.

I've seen that before. What's that from?

So is this.... I usually get the Tusq ones and they seem to be more consistent.

I like Tusq . . . it does tend to me more consistent and having the Teflon already in it means less maintenance for you. I didn't notice a huge sound difference between bone and Tusq on my guitar for what it's worth.

I'm with John on this. The nuts can bind the strings, but if its properly cut you usually don't have to many issues. The saddles make a bigger difference. I just built a new Strat. I have a graphite saddle, locking tuners, no string tree & I will eventually add graphite saddles. Whammy stability is my goal.

Didn't you see that CHARTS on the TUSQ packaging?? They have more volume, more sustain, move goodness and awesomeness over the whole spectrum LOL

I don't know dude... I have both - bone nuts, and tusq nuts on my guitars, and I can't really tell the difference, because all my guitars are way different, so they may be better than each other because of other stuff.... You could try buying both, and then try both with that guitar, and see which one sounds better...

I have a TUSQ nut on the chinese 335 SX, and i'd say it made a big difference from the stock cheapo plastic nut. Guitar sounds more "solid", and less "like a toy" LOL....
